Motivate works with some of the world’s leading brands, from Citi, Nike and Ford as title sponsors, to Blue Cross Blue Shield and T-Mobile as supporting sponsors, and many others to create and activate sponsorships that support bike share and engage riders. We’ve secured major sponsorships for cities including New York, Chicago, Portland and Jersey City by creating and activating concepts that meet our sponsors goals and enhance our partnerships with cities. Opportunities range from title and naming rights sponsorships, like Citi Bike and BIKETOWN, to secondary sponsorships, like Mastercard “Official Payment Sponsor” of Citi Bike in New York and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield in Jersey City. Motivate has also delivered successful campaign-based sponsorships that incorporate events, sampling and digital integration, like San Pellegrino and Naked Juice.

Ford GoBike

Bay Area, CAFord Sponsorship

Ford is working with Motivate to help grow the San Francisco Bay Area program exponentially, from 700 bicycles to 7,000, by 2018. The expanded program, which will be renamed Ford GoBike, offers Ford a platform to build on its commitment to improve urban mobility and to become a positive part of the daily lives of the tens of thousands of people expected to use Ford GoBike once the program reaches scale.

Along with the benefits to Ford’s brand, the sponsorship also includes naming rights, branding opportunities on all promotional materials and on the Ford GoBike website, mobile app, station kiosks, member keys and bikes, which will be painted in the brand’s colors and feature the name and logo and/or brand copy on the down tube, back fender and basket.

The program also provides access to additional activations including social, customer and civic engagement and community and bike safety campaigns featuring Ford as a title partner.

Motivate’s team of sponsorship, marketing, technology and creative experts works closely with brands to ensure each sponsorship brings the brand to life, aligns with the brand’s values and goals and offers the brand unparalleled opportunity to connect with urban residents in an authentic and meaningful way.

Activation

We work collaboratively with brands and their teams to create and activate sponsorships. We have a full-service in-house account management and creative teams as well as local field staff that bring sponsorships to life.

Branding

For sponsorships large and small, Motivate’s creative team works with brands and agencies to develop a visual identify be it for a system or a short-term campaign that can span the physical (bikes, stations, member keys, print collateral) and digital (web site, mobile app, social channels and more). Our team can create tailored visuals and branding and build splash pages, micro-sites and special interactive challenges for activations. We work collaboratively with our sponsors and cities to ensure what we are creating brings brands to life.

Jersey City, NJSecondary Station Sponsors

Citi Bike Jersey City is one of the first privately sponsored bike share programs in a mid-sized city. Citi Bike Jersey City is supported by Citi, and four local “founding partners”. Founding sponsorships are a great way for local businesses and institutions to support civic infrastructure and connect directly with residents and visitors. Motivate can help bring this model to other mid-sized cities looking to increase sponsorship revenue to support new or expanding programs.

New York, NYCiti Sponsorship

Citi’s sponsorship of New York’s bike share program is best known by the iconic blue bikes which have been broadcast in media around the globe. The program launch garnered Citi over $4.4 million dollars in earned media. And in the first few months the program contributed to a 25% increase in brand preference and a whooping 41% increase in brand consideration for the bank.

Over the years Citi and Motivate have worked together to continue to activate the sponsorship, keeping it fresh and continuing to reinforce Citi’s brand values and its commitment to its hometown. In 2015 we partnered to create Ride with Pride, branding 200 bikes in rainbow colors, just in time for Pride Month. When the Supreme Court voted to legalize same-sex marriage the bikes became the hottest, and most photographed ride in town. Later that year Motivate helped Citi bring Citi Bike for Good to life. Our team created a micro-site and worked with Citi to create a series of pulse challenges, engaging riders to help raise money for three local charities. We continue to work side-by-side with our title sponsor as the program continues to grow and reach more New Yorkers.
