New Seasons Market Celebrates Earth Day by Announcing New Sponsorship of Biketown, Portland’s Greenest Transportation System
Sponsorship Will Include Six Biketown Stations Equipped With New Seasons Branding and Push Notifications to App Users
(Portland, Oregon) — New Seasons Market is launching a new sponsorship of Biketown, the duo announced today, encouraging Portlanders to get around by bike while grocery shopping.
“This Earth Day, we’re encouraging Portlanders to hop on a bike the next time they head out to the grocery store,” said Dorothy Mitchell, General Manager of Biketown. “As a B-corp and Portland-based enterprise, New Seasons is making a meaningful investment in their hometown bikeshare system, allowing our eco-friendly transportation option to innovate, strengthen, and grow for many more Earth Days to come.”
“As the ultimate neighborhood grocery store, New Seasons Market is dedicated not just to good food, but to vibrant communities and a healthy planet. It’s important that we all work together, doing things both big and small, to be good stewards of our environment. We are excited that our partnership with Biketown will help support Portland’s shared mission to maintain a sustainable, lively and healthy town, and we encourage our neighbors to use the hometown bike system to come into our stores—we’re excited to serve you!” said Athena Petty, Sustainability Manager, New Seasons Market.
The new sponsorship with New Seasons reminds Portlanders to carry their groceries home using the roomy baskets found on every Biketown bike. New Seasons employees will also be able to obtain a $25 discount off a Biketown membership, and six Biketown stations will receive custom New Seasons branding — increasing the market’s visibility in the Portland area. To further elevate the partnership, New Seasons will also send push notifications to riders through the Biketown app.
Biketown, Portland’s bike share system, launched in the summer of 2016 and has already achieved more than 1,000,000 miles of rides. Biketown’s 1,000 bikes available at more than 100 stations make it easy for locals and visitors alike to travel the city on two wheels and experience the network of bike routes that exist in Portland.
Biketown is Portland’s bike share system with 1,000 bikes available in every quadrant of the city. Biketown is a program of the City of Portland’s Bureau of Transportation and is operated by Motivate. It uses innovative “smart bikes” which make it easy to find, rent and park a Biketown bike. Biketown is designed to be affordable and accessible, encouraging even more Portlanders to ride and allowing visitors to experience the city by bike. Portland joins other Motivate-operated US cities, including New York, Chicago, Washington DC, Boston and the Bay Area that have popular, safe and successful bike share systems.
