Motivate to Participate in the Chicago Forum on Global Cities

This week, Motivate’s CEO, Jay Walder, is traveling to the lauded Chicago Forum on Global Cities. Today, cities are taking the lead in solving the world’s biggest problems through innovative and sustainability-boosting programs like bike share, and this is a wonderful opportunity to survey both how far we have come and the distance we have yet to travel.

Walder will participate in the Livable City, Healthy World panel along with a prestigious group of civic and business leaders from all across the map, including: Robert Doyle, Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne, Australia; Charles Montgomery, Founder and Principal of Happy City, based in Vancouver; Former Mayor of Philadelphia, Michael Nutter; and Fernando Straface, Secretary-General of Government and Foreign Affairs, City of Buenos Aires.

The panel will be moderated by the President of theMacArthur Foundation, Julia Stasch. Among the topics they will discuss are: how global cities deliver the living conditions needed to create a thriving, healthy ecosystem and how urban design contributes to the equity of access for diverse populations. They will also touch on urban development’s role in helping to create happy cities.

In advance of the Forum Jay spoke with Chicago’s WBEZ’s Worldview radio show. You can hear the interview here (starts at 1:45).
