Motivate Launches First Nationwide Customer Service Center in Columbus
Motivate is happy to announce we have opened our first-ever nationwide customer center in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The center will eventually provide quality and responsive customer service to all Motivate systems across the country, with the exception of New York City, which has a regional office in place. The customer center will support the Ford GoBike system in the San Francisco Bay Area initially, and scale up to support the other Motivate systems across the country.
We have already hired five full-time and part-time staff. We expect to grow the team to over 40 full and part-time employees during peak season, with 20 employees during other periods of the year. The center will support customers with a range of services including calls, emails and requests through our online help center. The center is also preparing to support web chat in the coming weeks.
“We are excited to bring our quality customer service in-house and add new jobs to the Columbus economy,” said Jay Walder, President and CEO of Motivate. “As bike share becomes more popular across the country, it is important that we have a knowledgeable, experienced team that is well-equipped with the resources to help our riders quickly solve any issues they encounter. We choose to locate in Columbus since we knew that the City is a big champion for bike share and we are grateful for their partnership and support. We can use the presence of CoGo to train new employees on the ins and outs of bike share.”
In addition to CoGo, Motivate currently operates bike share systems across the country including Hubway in Boston, Divvy in Chicago, Chattanooga Bike Share in Tennessee, Capital Bikeshare in Washington D.C., and Citi Bike in New York City. Over 80 percent of the bike share trips taken in 2016 across the country were on Motivate bikes. This center will create opportunities for Ohio residents as well as riders. Center employees will earn a starting salary well above Columbus’s minimum wage; full-time employees receive benefits including full health insurance, dental and a wellness benefit as well. We will begin recruitment for new positions immediately through workforce development organizations to find talented applicants for the center.
