Motivate and Local Partners Launch BIKETOWN for All

Motivate is proud to join the Community Cycling Center, the Portland Bureau of Transportation, the Better Bike Share Partnership and affordable housing providers, social service agencies and nonprofits to launch BIKETOWN for All, a reduced-cost program to provide Portlanders living on low incomes BIKETOWN membership for just $3 per month, including bike safety education and a free helmet.

A BIKETOWN for All membership, includes 90 minutes of daily riding time and can be paid for with a credit card, debit card or cash.

Motivate is deeply committed to advancing equity across all of our bike share systems.  This initiative is the latest in a series of innovative programs we have partnered with our clients and local organizations on to increase and diversify bike share participation in the cities we serve.

Whether we are doubling the number of people enrolled in Citi Bike’s affordability program by increasing marketing and offering an installment payment plan; providing funding for Bay Area nonprofits to spread the word about its own affordability program and to empower communities in station-siting plans as we prepare to expand the region’s bike share tenfold; launching campaigns like #WomenWhoBike to help close the gender gap in cycling; or working with community organizations to recruit staff from historically underrepresented groups, we are working tirelessly to foster a more equitable future.

We believe success means more than counting bike trips. It means building a more just and connected City for all. That’s why we were excited to see the popularity of BIKETOWN for ALL’s pilot at Alder House Apartments, and hopeful it will continue to bring the joy and convenience of bike share to more underserved Portlanders, ensuring BIKETOWN is a success in every sense of the word.
