Divvy Hits Ten Million Trips
The new year started off with a bang for Divvy. Just before midnight on January 2nd, a grandmother, Priscilla B from Lakeview, coming home from visiting her grandkids, took the 10 millionth trip on the popular bike share system.
This milestone puts Divvy in a rather exclusive club of U.S. bike share programs that have 10 million+ trips, one that to date includes Capital Bikeshare and Citi Bike. And it’s just one of several milestone moments for Divvy this year.
In autumn, Chicago topped off Bicycling Magazine’s “50 Best Bike Cities of 2016” list, and Divvy’s success, along with the City of Chicago’s significant investments in its bike infrastructure–more than 100 miles of bike lanes were added last year– is putting the Windy City at the top of the list.
In 2016, Divvy also celebrated its third birthday (in June), added over 100 stations, and expanded to the suburbs of Evanston and Oak Park. And with Divvy for Everyone improving bike equity by offering low income residents a $5 Annual Membership, more and more Chicagoans are now able to enjoy a fun, healthy, safe, affordable and convenient form of transportation.
We’re looking forward to another banner year for Divvy in 2017.
