The Detroit Bikes factory sits on the West Side of the city near scattered abandoned homes and a junkyard full of rusted car parts. Inside, workers are taking test rides through the 50,000-square-foot facility on a fleet of freshly assembled bicycles destined for New York’s Citi Bike bike-share program.
Last week in Philly hundreds of bike share and social justice practitioners gathered to discuss how to make bike share more equitable and inclusive. The group was convened by the Better Bike Share Partnership. which has also awarded grants to thirteen cities, including six where Motivate operates to dig into this topic at the local level. […]
