Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation Honors Our CEO
At its recent gala, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation honored our CEO Jay Walder with the Jacob Javits Award for his distinguished leadership and valued partnership. Last year, as Motivate installed new bike share stations in Bedford-Stuyvesant, our company also embarked on a partnership with Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation with the shared goal of encouraging people to use bike share in an underserved community.
The results speak to the success of our efforts: Citi Bike memberships in Bedford-Stuyvesant have increased by an impressive 44 percent since we joined forces, and bike share enthusiasts across the country are taking note.
In fact, Motivate’s partnership with Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation was so fruitful, we will seek to emulate it with other community organizations as Citi Bike expands in Harlem, Prospect Heights and Crown Heights.
In his acceptance speech, our CEO shared his gratitude for BSRC’s efforts, and how it demonstrates the potential of bike share as a tool to advance equity. He pointed out that a bike share’s success should be defined by more than the number of people riding–it should be defined by how inclusive and accessible it is, and how effectively it is connecting all residents to the transit hubs, jobs and schools that lead to new opportunities.
Thanks to Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation for recognizing our CEO. We look forward to continuing our good work together!
