Bike share systems provide an instantly immersive experience which can help bring products to life for consumers. As bike share becomes an increasingly ubiquitous part of the infrastructure of modern cities, brands are looking to leverage bike share’s urban real estate to establish permanent and positive associations with tastemakers nationwide.
Some of the world’s largest brands are collaborating with Hubway and its operator Motivate, which operates the largest and most popular bike share systems across the country including Citi Bike in New York City, Divvy in Chicago, and Ford GoBike in the Bay Area, among others. National brands including Ford, Nike, Citi, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Alaska Airlines, Hulu and Santander have made major investments in bike share programs from New York City to Portland to reach bike share’s unique urban audience.
Hubway consistently breaks its own ridership records year after year. So far in 2017, over 970,000 trips have been taken on Hubway bikes. This year will be the fastest ever to 1M trips. August 2017 had the most ever trips a in single month, with nearly 194,000 trips. The system has over 14,000 annual members and major expansion is planned in all participating municipalities.
Hubway is metro-Boston’s public bike share program, with more than 1,800 bikes at 180+ stations across Boston, Brookline, Cambridge and Somerville. Hubway is owned by the municipalities of Boston, Brookline, Cambridge and Somerville, and operated by Motivate. Hubway launched in 2011 and has become an essential part of our transportation network. It’s fun, efficient and affordable – not to mention healthy and good for the environment.
Hubway, like other bike share systems, consists of a fleet of specially designed, sturdy and durable bikes that are locked into a network of docking stations throughout the city. The bikes can be unlocked from one station and returned to any other station in the system, making them ideal for one-way trips. People use bike share to commute to work or school, run errands, get to appointments or social engagements, and more.
