Last week’s election may be unprecedented in U.S. history, and it has taken me some time to fully grapple with what to say about it.  I was, frankly, a bit shaken by the outcome and I know many of you were too.

To be clear, I truly cherish the free elections that we have in our country, and respect that there are a variety of opinions about how the country should be run.

My concerns are not about party. My concerns are a recognition that the values we hold dear as a country are in jeopardy. The campaign left us wondering whether the President-elect respects each and every person regardless of origin, skin color, gender, sexual orientation or political views.  In time he may answer these concerns and I certainly hope that he does.

In the meantime, it seems ever more important to re-emphasize and re-commit to the values Motivate holds dear:

The work we do every day is a testament to these values, and I promise to ensure that they are front and center in everything we do in the months and years to come.

Onwards,

Jay

A Note on the Presidential Election From Motivate’s CEO

  • we respect the right of all of our colleagues to their individual political beliefs
  • we are an inclusive company and celebrate the fact that we have an inclusive workforce without regard to race, gender, origin or sexual orientation
  • we are committed to making cities more accessible, healthier and environmentally sustainable
  • we will work with our clients to implement bike share in diverse communities and ensure that it is accessible to the underserved
  • we respect every member of our team and every customer in every city in which we operate.

The work we do every day is a testament to these values, and I promise to ensure that they are front and center in everything we do in the months and years to come.

Onwards,

Jay
