Turns out Motivate is a change agent on multiple fronts!

That’s because successful bike share programs have far-reaching implications. Beyond transforming the transportation landscapes of our cities, they also support the health and wellness of their riders. If you commute to work or school on a bike, this will come as no surprise. Whether burning calories, toning muscles, boosting blood-flow, reducing the risk of heart disease or offering riders a moment of reprieve in a hectic day, cycling comes with countless benefits.

It stands to reason, then, that Motivate, which currently operates ten highly successful bike share systems in the U.S., is not only making a big splash in our nation’s transportation scene, but also in its health ecosystem. We are delighted to be included in HRI’s fascinating case study illuminating how factors like technological advancements and decentralization are shaping the future of the health industry.

Partnerships like the one between Divvy and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois attest to the fact that healthcare companies see opportunity when it comes to bike share. Increasingly, businesses large and small are partnering with our systems to take advantage of the  “fitness byproduct” of our services, offering subsidized memberships to their employees as part of their corporate wellness. We are looking forward to forging more of these partnerships as the health benefits of bike share become more widespread and more widely known.

In sum: It feels good to be in the business of “accidental wellness!” Read on to glimpse the “seismic change” ahead.
